Uncertainty provokes companies to expand procurement functions
Following political and economic uncertainty in 2016, improving supply chain efficiency and expanding procurement functions has led to a 43% rise in UK procurement and supply chain positions in the first quarter of 2017, in comparison to the same period last year.
Junior buyer roles made up 25% of vacancies whilst mid-level management accounted for 36%. Following the triggering of Article 50, businesses have been looking to expand and grow in the wake of Brexit, foreseeing not only new opportunities but also new challenges as the UK renegotiates trade deals with Europe and the rest of the world.
In order to stay competitive, businesses require procurement professionals with the skills and experience to not only take advantage of opportunities but also fully support sustainable growth in the long-term, revising procurement and supply chain strategies. As a result, procurement salaries have grown for the third consecutive year, outstripping the average UK salary increase as employers compete to secure the best talent.
