John Collington, the government's chief procurement officer is to leave Whitehall to take up a position in the private sector. Whilst in office, government spending reduced from £51bn to £45bn. During this time, the government claims that spending with small and medium enterprises doubled.

"John Collington, the government's chief procurement officer is to leave Whitehall for a private sector position, it has emerged.
His departure comes weeks after Ian Watmore, his former boss, stood down as Cabinet Office permanent secretary in mid May.
Collington, who joined the Cabinet Office two years ago, previously worked as group commercial director at the Home Office for three years.
In his final government role he drove forward procurement reforms instigated by Cabinet Office minister Francis Maude and developed a shared services strategy, work which the Cabinet Office said had delivered substantial results for the taxpayer..."
