A recent article published online indicated that the controls on spending that were introduced earlier this year are to become a fixed element of the procurement process.
The article reported that the government recognised some clear savings, and naturally want to keep up the momentum. We have previously blogged about the pressure on local authorities to reduce their budgets. Smaller businesses are often able to deliver services to the public sector at favourable rates. The decision to maintain controls on government spending would suggest that there will be more opportunity for small and medium sized companies to win public sector contracts.
