Network Rail has begun the process of commissioning a team to deliver its Transpennine Route Upgrade project (TRU) west of Leeds, valued at up to £2bn.
The contract notice, published in the official Journal of the EU, reveals that network rail infrastructure Ltd (NRIL) is seeking a group to design and build a multi-disciplinary programme of works. This includes buildings, civils, track, signalling and communications railway construction works.
The successful contractor(s) will enter an alliance agreement with NRIL to deliver the works.
The west of Leeds element of the TRU relates to the upgrade of the route between Leeds and Stalybridge.
The overall scope of the TRU programme includes:
- Electrification of the Transpennine Route from Stalybridge to York and Selby
- Increased capacity between Manchester and York
- Journey time reductions between Manchester and York
- Bid Management
- Bid/Tender training
- Bid Recruitment
- Procurement
