Procurement compliance and achieving value for money

Jan 29, 2016

Thornton & Lowe regularly work with public sector buyers to advise on their procurement of goods, services and works. This can include the development of overarching procurement strategies, procurement compliance, market engagement exercises and value for money reviews for Councils, Housing Associations, Academies, NHS and other public sector bodies. Most recently we have been working with a district borough council to provide a benchmarking and procurement options appraisal for their growing telecare division. This involved engaging with existing suppliers, market leaders and local specialists to assess both the service and equipment elements of this critical service. We then produced a report with detailed indicative savings and procurement options to ensure value for money and EU compliance. We are also working with a small housing association in the North West. We are reviewing their existing responsive repairs and service contracts with an aim to improve service levels and customer satisfaction, increase contractor transparency and accountability whilst ensuring procurement best practice and value for money. Furthermore, we often get requests from ERDF and ESF/funding beneficiaries who have been awarded significant funds, which need to be spent in line with EU rules in order to satisfy the funders. We work with these businesses to ensure they are open, fair and transparent with regards to their procurement activity. For more information, see our procurement page.
